19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
